The Transport Agency is asking drivers in the South Island to take the foot off the pedal on alpine pass roads

The Transport Agency is asking drivers in the South Island to take the foot off the pedal on alpine pass roads

A cold snap has put snow on the tops, with overnight rain causing some surface-flooding in low-lying areas.

Journey manager Tresca Forrester says road crews have kept alpine roads open after light dustings.

She says now's the time for drivers to start thinking about winter conditions.

Forrester says we're heading into colder spells, after being blessed with warm weather.
