Lily Allen could make her West End debut later this year

The 36-year-old pop star is considering a career switch, and could make her debut in London when theatres reopen later this year

A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "Lily is known for being a pop star, but she has plenty more to offer. It will be a challenge, but she is eager to sink her teeth into a new project.

"Rehearsals are believed to be set to start later this summer."

The potential switch would see Lily follow in the footsteps of her brother Alfie and her husband David Harbour, who stars in 'Stranger Things'.

Meanwhile, Lily - who has Marnie, eight, and Ethel, nine, with her ex-husband Sam Cooper - previously admitted she struggled to come to terms with the demands of motherhood.

The pop star sunk into depression amid her parenting struggles.

She explained: "Neither of my parents was particularly good at parenting, so it wasn’t a skillset that I had. I sort of assumed it would all just happen naturally. And it didn’t. And I think that was the trigger for my postnatal depression.

"My whole childhood I’d been dreaming of this two point four children, living in the country - everything was just going to fall into place and I’d be this perfect mum. And it didn’t happen.

"I was very shocked and disappointed."

Lily also claimed she wasn't aware of how much money she'd made during her pop career.

She said: "I don’t know how much money I’ve made, don’t know how many albums I’ve sold.

"When I start to think about money, I get that feeling I used to get with parking tickets - anxiety in my stomach."
