A police man who allegedly assaulted and strangled his partner has appeared in court

The North Island officer is charged with assaulting a person he's in a family relationship with - and putting pressure on her neck to intentionally disrupt breathing.
He has name suppression and appeared at Hamilton District Court yesterday.
A police spokesperson has confirmed the officer has been stood down.
The man will next appear in court on May 31.
