Kristen Bell has been reunited with her parents for the first time in more than a year

The 40-year-old actress has been kept apart from her parents amid the coronavirus crisis, but she's taken to Instagram to reveal they recently reunited to celebrate her dad's birthday together

Alongside some photographs of their celebrations, Kristen wrote: "Saw my parents for the first time in over a year.

"It was my dad's birthday, so we took him out to a nice dinner and he told me that since it was his birthday he absolutely did not have to take his mask off for the pictures I wanted.

"I get my stubbornness from him.

"Happy birthday, dad. I'm so glad you're mine. (sic)"

Meanwhile, Kristen recently revealed she once took hallucinogenic mushrooms to help ease her anxiety.

The Hollywood star has been living with depression and anxiety for decades, and explained that after trying a range of treatments to manage her mental health, she found herself inspired to try psychedelic drugs after reading ‘How to Change Your Mind’ by Michael Pollan.

She shared: "He really goes into detail about this underground academic community that has continued to study the effects of LSD and psilocybin on what they call 'healthy normal’. There are aspects to those two particular drugs that the places you can go in your brain are much deeper and more healing than anything else."

Kristen became interested in taking mushrooms, and her husband Dax Shepard - who previously battled a drug addiction - helped her to get hold of what she wanted.

She shared: "I really wanted to try some psilocybin [the technical term for hallucinogenic mushrooms] and feel what kind of doors open, have a trip that was my own.

“I am very lucky to be married to an ex-drug addict. Not only did he know where to get the mushrooms … he got that really nice, quality, organic, set and setting, beautiful mushroom. And then he … babysat me."
