Jamie Redknapp is keeping the gender of his unborn baby "a secret"

The former footballer - who already has sons Charley, 16, and Beau, 12, from his marriage to singer Louise Redknapp - is expecting his first child with girlfriend Frida Andersson and though his family are excited about the impending new addition to the family, they have no idea if the couple are expecting a boy or girl

Asked if they know the gender, Jamie's dad, Harry Redknapp, said:

"They’re going to keep it a secret.”

The family are all very happy for the couple and Harry and his wife Sandra joked having so many grandchildren keeps them busy - and costs them a lot of money.

Sandra said of the news: "It's exciting!"

Harry added in a joint interview with OK! magazine: Jamie is very happy and Frida is happy. We’re lucky that Jamie has two boys already, Charley and Beau, and our other son Mark has five children, so this will be grandchild number eight. We’ve got our hands full!”

Asked if they keep him on his toes, Harry quipped: "They keep me skint!"

The 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' winner previously admitted one of his favourite things to do is to watch sport with his grandchildren.

He said: "Going to watch them play football and sport ... I love being there and turning up and watching the kids and taking them to football on Saturday."

It was previously revealed Jamie and Frida - who has four children from her previous marriage - are "absolutely delighted" about being parents again.

A source said: "Jamie and Frida are absolutely delighted. They’ve been virtually inseparable in lockdown, and their relationship has gone from strength to strength. The couple started telling their nearest and dearest last week. Jamie’s been telling pals he’s really excited to be a dad again - less excited about the sleepless nights, and nappy-changing.

But both he and Frida will be brilliant, hands-on parents."
