The New Zealand men's sevens side is taking an injury blow in their stride as they close in on their Olympics Sevens campaign

The squad has touched down in Tokyo after a training block in Townsville which helped them acclimatise to the heat in Japan.

But they'll do it without veteran Sam Dickson, ruled out on the eve of the tournament with a hamstring issue.

Coach Clark Laidlaw is confident in replacement Amanaki Nicole's ability.
