Labour's Tamati Coffey says he'll be monitoring the investigation into a covid booklet which depicted the covid virus with mataora, or Maori faces

Labour's Tamati Coffey says he'll be monitoring the investigation into a covid booklet which depicted the covid virus with mataora, or Maori faces

The list MP alerted Bay of Plenty DHB to the booklet yesterday, saying it was inappropriate on so many levels.

The booklet was immediately withdrawn by the DHB, and an investigation launched.

Coffey says it can't happened again.

He says there's enough Covid vaccine hesitancy in Maori communities, that we don't need images like this to undo the work being done by the Ministry of Health.

DHB chief executive Pete Chandler's apologised, saying there was no way the imagery should have been used.
