Violence towards the police appears to be on the rise

Violence towards the police appears to be on the rise

Eli Epiha will be sentenced on October 1 for the murder and attempted murder of Constables Matthew Hunt and David Goldfinch in June last year.

Natalie Bracken will be sentenced on the same day, for being an accessory after the fact to wounding, with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Police Association president, Chris Cahill, says 15 hundred officers were assaulted last year, with nearly one a day injured.

He says the level of violence seems to be getting worse.
