The New Zealand women's sevens team is celebrating a special gold medal at the Olympic Games

The New Zealand women's sevens team is celebrating a special gold medal at the Olympic Games

Five years removed from a heartbreaking defeat in the final in Rio, they've brushed aside France 26-12 to take gold in Tokyo.

Portia Woodman - who came back from Achilles and hamstring injuries to attend the Games - says it all washed away at fulltime.

Fiji claimed bronze defeating Great Britain 21-12 in the playoff.
