A glimpse at what political life is like at Parliament - after being dumped from Cabinet

A glimpse at what political life is like at Parliament - after being dumped from Cabinet

Phil Twyford was stripped of the Housing portfolio in 2019 - amid the much-maligned failures of Kiwibuild.

Labour's Te Atatu MP then lost Transport, as well as Economic and Urban Development, after last year's election.

Twyford says being a minister outside of Cabinet means there's still plenty to get his teeth into.

He says it's obviously less pressured and high profile - but there are great opportunities to do the hard yards.

Phil Twyford is the Minister for Disarmament and Arms Control, Minister of State for Trade and Export Growth - and associate for Environment and Immigration.
