    A number of people died in a single car crash near Timaru last night


    Emergency services were called to the single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Seadown Road and Meadows Road in Washdyke just before 7:30pm.

    Inspector Dave Gaskin says further to those who died at the scene, one survivor was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

    He says early indications are that speed was a factor in the crash.

    The Serious Crash Unit will be investigating.
