A financial loss for the sailing club that would have hosted the inaugural New Zealand edition of SailGP

The January regatta has been sunk with the application for MIQ spots for teams and officials denied.

Colin Lock is chairman of the host Naval Point Club in Lyttelton and says the club will take a financial hit in the medium term.

Australian rugby great Toutai Kefu has undergone emergency surgery in hospital after being stabbed in the stomach in his Brisbane home when he disturbed a burglary.

The former Wallabies player and current Tongan coach was left in a critical condition while trying to defend his family.

Police said earlier Kefu suffered very serious wounds to his abdomen - but is expected to live.

Two 15-year-old boys are in custody, while another fled the scene.

Counties Manukau head coach Tai Lavea will depart the franchise at the end of the 2021 Bunnings NPC season to take up a coaching opportunity in Japan.
