This year's Winter Games - due to start on Sunday in Wanaka - has been cancelled

Organisers had been working on contingency plans for the event since the delta outbreak but, with ongoing uncertainty and no training in recent days, the risk has been deemed too high.



Kayla Johnson always wanted to return to netball, but wasn't sure her body would comply.

The former Silver Fern, who has been based in Australia for the last three years with league-playing husband Shaun, has signed with the Stars for next year's ANZ Premiership.

Johnson hasn't played a top level match since 2019, with her first baby arriving last year.

She says a difficult birth left her wondering about her sporting future.



Football Ferns striker Hannah Wilkinson has signed with Melbourne City for the next W-League season.

The 29-year-old's spent her entire club career in Europe to this point.
