Alert level three saw a spike in people travelling north of Wellington

Data released by Waka Kotahi shows over 26 thousand vehicles travelled north through Ngauranga Gorge yesterday, a leap compared to to just over 12 thousand the day before.
Wednesday's figures were also three percent up on the average weekday during level three last year.
Regional Maintenance and Operations Manager Mark Owen says this could be due to increased freight or high vaccination and testing rates.
