NSW: Man charged with fatal shooting of grandad

NSW: Man charged with fatal shooting of grandad

Smith (SYDNEY) A man will appear in court charged with murder after the daylight shooting of a grandfather in the NSW central west last year. Police were baffled by the attack on 48-year-old Wellington man Frank Smith, who was described as a supportive and loving father and grandad. The handyman collapsed in the front yard of a home after being shot in the abdomen on April 27, 2020, and was driven to Wellington Base Hospital by a Good Samaritan, where he later died. Earlier this year, investigators recovered a firearm linked to the murder which subsequently underwent forensic and ballistic examination. Detectives arrested a 31-year-old man in Wellington on Wednesday and charged him with murder. He was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court on Thursday.
