A new facility to support Canterbury's most vulnerable youth is on track

The Maia Health Foundation has smashed its Christmas fundraising target - raising more than 315-thousand dollars in six weeks for a new mental health facility.

They've committed six million dollars towards the project.

Maia Health's chief executive Michael Flatman says it will be a place where young people can begin healing.

He says youth will no longer have to go to an old facilities - with the new one being a welcoming space.

It's planned the new facility will open in 2023.
