The jab's been available for nearly a month for those aged 18 and over who can't receive Pfizer, or want a different option.
About two thousand-400 had their first dose -- with the other 600 made up of second, third and booster doses.
Auckland University vaccinologist Helen Petousis-Harris says AstraZeneca is reasonable at preventing severe illness from Omicron.
She says it's pretty good at preventing people being put in hospital, so it's worth having.
