Police are maintaining a visible presence around Mt Roskill in Auckland, after a 23-year-old man was fatally shot

A post-mortem is expected to be carried out today, following the man's death on Thursday night.

Two men - one armed with a gun and the other with a machete - went into the Glass Road address on Thursday night.

Four people were inside at the time -- two other men were attacked with the machete, while the fourth person was uninjured.

The offenders then made off, and police say they're working to identify them as quickly as possible.

They say they're not treating it as a random incident.
