Kiwi teens are being warned not to get sucked into sharing vapes ... as Omicron looms

Kiwi teens are being warned not to get sucked into sharing vapes ... as Omicron looms

The Asthma and Respiratory Foundation is trying to raise awareness of the the social pressures to vape - and the habit's dangers.

It's found one in five high school students are addicted, and Youth19 says more than a third of students have tried it.

Clinical Microbiologist Anja Werno says in the context of Covid, it's important for teens to realise sharing vapes ... means sharing saliva.

She says Covid can be detected and present in saliva, due to it replicating in the nose and back of the throat.
