It's expected to be many months before any change to the Official Cash Rate impacts our sky-rocketing inflation

It's expected to be many months before any change to the Official Cash Rate impacts our sky-rocketing inflation

Inflation's running at six percent - it's thought higher interest rates could help dampen that.

The Reserve Bank will announce any change to the OCR today with commentators predicting a raise of quarter or half a percent, from the current 0.75 percent.

Fisher Funds head of fixed income, David McLeish, says it will be a while before any impact on inflation kicks in.

He says the lag between after interest rates move is nine-to-18 months.
