Christian Eriksen has returned to competitive football, 259 days after a cardiac arrest during a European Championship game for Denmark

The 30-year-old made his debut for Brentford in their 2-nil Premier League loss to Newcastle, with the crowd applauding as he ran on in the 52nd minute.

Eriksen has been fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator which meant he had to leave Serie A team Inter Milan due to Italian regulations.

But Brentford stepped in to sign the free agent in the January transfer window.
