Police are searching for a swimmer missing in the Waikato River at Hamilton

Police are searching for a swimmer missing in the Waikato River at Hamilton

Emergency services were called around 6:30 last night, after the man failed to resurface.

Initial reports indicate he'd been on the river bank with two others before he entered the water near the Rostrevor Street jetty.

River searches by boat and jet ski have been unsuccessful.

Searchers will continue their efforts today.
