Warnings the cost of failing to properly fund Pharmac is far greater than money

A petition signed by 43-thousand people was presented to Parliament last week, asking for funding of a drug to treat cystic fibrosis.
The Health Minister responded with assurances Pharmac undertakes proper cost-benefit analyses.
But Rare Disorders New Zealand says funding life-changing medicines like Trikafta is the most cost-effective option for the Government.
Chair James McGoram says not funding these drugs leads to higher dependency on other health services.
He says people can survive and live much longer, richer lives with this treatment but aren't getting the opportunity.
