The North Island could be in for some wild weather this week

The North Island could be in for some wild weather this week

MetService says severe gales, heavy rain, large waves and coastal inundation is on the cards from tomorrow.

There's a heavy rain watch in place for eastern parts of Northland for 24 hours from midday tomorrow.

Places like Hawke's Bay and Gisborne could see up to 200 millimetres or more of rain in some areas.
