Cost pressures on New Zealand's collision repairers are tightening their grip

Cost pressures on New Zealand's collision repairers are tightening their grip

The billion dollar industry is set to lose 15 per cent of its annual revenue to a combination of factors.

They're calling it a perfect financial storm - as the pandemic, skill shortages and inflation takes its toll.

Collision Repair Network general manager Neil Pritchard says collision repairers are price-takers, not price-makers and are given what insurance companies pay them.

He says they're facing increasing costs, but there's no mechanism to force insurers to engage in increased rates.
