Today's rugby league double-header in Auckland takes on extra significance for the Kiwis and Kiwi Ferns harbouring world champion ambitions

Today's rugby league double-header in Auckland takes on extra significance for the Kiwis and Kiwi Ferns harbouring world champion ambitions

    - article from www.rugbyleague.co.nz

The fixtures at Mt Smart Stadium against Tonga are the only scheduled games for both New Zealand sides before the delayed World Cup, starting in October in England.

Kiwi Ferns vice-captain Georgia Hale knows they're important building blocks.

Meanwhile Kiwis debutant Marata Niukore (Nee-oo-kor-reh) is refusing to let the nerves bite.

The 25-year-old is drawing on the experience gained during three appearances for the Cook Islands.

Niukore says playing alongside Parramatta Eels teammate Dylan Brown is also keeping him calm.

The Kiwi Ferns kick off at ten past three with the men underway at 5:20.
