Crusaders flyer Will Jordan was likely to start on the right wing for Saturday's test series opener at Eden Park.
But he's become the sixth member of the All Blacks camp to test positive for Covid and is likely to miss the second test too.
New Zealand Cricket wants to make day-night tests more regular.
The Black Caps host England in February for two tests, with the first being a day-nighter with the pink ball at Tauranga's Bay Oval.
The Black Caps will also return to Auckland this summer after a one year absence, playing three matches at Eden Park - an ODI against India in November, and an ODI and T20 against Sri Lanka in March.
