The Mayor of Hamilton thinks the Waikato expressway is the best highway in New Zealand

The final 22 kilometre Hamilton section of the expressway is open.

Paula Southgate says she isn't worried that the new section skirts Central Hamilton.

She says Hamilton is a freights logistics city and the expressway will make it easier to export goods from Hamilton all around the country.

The 102 kilometre expressway began in the 1990s and was funded though the National Land Transport Fund, stage by stage.
