The 24-year-old placed second in her heat in 11.08 seconds, serving as a new Oceania record, New Zealand record and personal best.
Hobbs says there's a big weight lifted off her shoulders.
Meanwhile it wasn't the best day out on the track for fellow sprinter Eddie Osei-Nketia who missed out on the men's 100 metres final, placing seventh in his semi in 10.29 seconds.
But he's already looking ahead to next season.
Sam Tanner's qualified for tomorrow's 1500 metres semi final after placing sixth in his heat in three minutes and 34.33 seconds.
