Maori Development Minister Willie Jackson is slamming the one person, one vote outrage

Maori Development Minister Willie Jackson is slamming the one person, one vote outrage

It comes after the Ngai Tahu Representation Bill has passed its third reading in the House last night - 77 votes to 43.

It empowers mana whenua to appoint two councillors to the Canterbury Regional Council.

Minister Jackson says this doesn't mean iwi will have more power at the table.

He says it just shows democracy has evolved past the one person one vote mentality.
