Monday's major slip in central Wellington is being blamed on historic levels of rainfall

Monday's major slip in central Wellington is being blamed on historic levels of rainfall

Twelve homes on The Terrace have been evacuated.

At least one has been deemed unstable.

GNS Principal Scientist Chris Massey says Wellington's had double the average amount of rain in the past month.

He says after long periods of wet weather you don't need as much individual rain for a slope to fail.
