Improving Kiwis driving remains a key part of Waka Kotahi's Road to Zero campaign

A six-month hidden camera trial in Auckland clocked a potential 50-thousand mobile phone offences in the first two months.
The trial's now in its second phase, where cameras will detect people not wearing seatbelts.
Land transport director Kane Patena says driver competency is as important as things like road quality and vehicle safety.
He says Road to Zero is saying you need good driver behaviour, as well as having the right tools in place to encourage it.
