A midwife says their issues with the Ministry of Health are about a lot more than just a salary

A midwife says their issues with the Ministry of Health are about a lot more than just a salary

The College of Midwives have filed class action in the High Court against the Ministry of Health, after years of failed negotiations.

It relates to working conditions, fair pay and the breach of contracts.

College of Midwives member Violet Clapham says it's not as simple as comparing wages.

She says there's a lot of costs associated with being a midwife that are not acknowledged by the ministry, and that's the real gap that needs addressing.
