Serena Williams rivals are starting to take notice of the 23 times Grand Slam champion's performances at the US Open

The American's signalled she has no intention of quietly retiring with an impressive upset of world number two Anett Kontaveit to reach the third round at Flushing Meadows.

8th seed Jessica Pegula the last player to lose a final to Serena at the 2020 ASB Classic in Auckland, says the 40 year old has been impressive.

Pegula has joined top seed Iga Swiatek in reaching the third round but 4th seeded Spaniard Paola Badosa has crashed out.

Men's third seed Carlos Alcaraz has won through in straight sets.
