Arrests are yet to be made over a brazen afternoon smash at Auckland's St Lukes shopping mall

Arrests are yet to be made over a brazen afternoon smash at Auckland's St Lukes shopping mall

Police are investigating after a group of masked offenders rushed into Stewart Dawson's jewellery store at around five o'clock yesterday.

Footage from the scene shows the assailants using batons to smash cabinets, before running off - waving their weapons at bystanders.

A worker in a nearby shop says the bangs sounded like gunshots, causing people to bar themselves in stores or race for the exits.

Police found a stolen car suspected to be the getaway vehicle shortly after, but they're yet to lay any charges.
