One in three New Zealand children is likely to identify as Maori, by the early 2040s

Stats NZ data shows all major ethnic populations are projected to grow over the next two decades, although some will grow faster than others.

The share of children who are Maori is projected to increase from 27 percent in 2018, to 33 percent in 2043.
