Caution is recommended for berry-lovers, as recent cases of Hepatitis A point towards frozen options

Caution is recommended for berry-lovers, as recent cases of Hepatitis A point towards frozen options

Foodstuffs is recalling all batches of Pams-branded Mixed Berries, Two Berry Mix, Smoothie Berry Mix, and Raspberries, for all date ranges.

They're being removed from all New World, Pak'nSave, Four Square, Trent's, and Raewood Fresh branches as a precaution.

New Zealand Food Safety's Vincent Arbuckle says there are 12 known Hepatitis A cases in the community.

He says the virus is a genetic match to one in Sweden, which possibly linked to frozen berries from Serbia.

Arbuckle says Foodstuff's products also contain fruit from the country.
