A goal to make sure every dog in Christchurch has a place to call home

A goal to make sure every dog in Christchurch has a place to call home

Out of just over 2-thousand reports of lost dogs reported in the city this year - just two out of 621 impounded were euthanised.

It's a stark comparison to Auckland - with 13-hundred of five thousand impounded dogs euthanised in the year to June.

Christchurch City Council's Animal Services Manager Lionel Bridger says they have strong relationships with their rescues.

He says if they genuinely feel a dog can be rehomed , they'll keep it longer than the required 7 days.
