National's police spokesperson is standing by Auckland police's actions following an incident in which a man was hospitalised

National's police spokesperson is standing by Auckland police's actions following an incident in which a man was hospitalised

A burglary suspect was arrested Hillsborough, after trying to evade Police.

Footage of the arrest shows a police dog bit the man's leg and did not let go for almost 40 seconds.

National's Mark Mitchell says police have more information than those criticising them.

He says police officers are dealing with potential violent offenders -- and says if an alleged offender wants to avoid contact with a police dog, they shouldn't break into someone's home.
