A man who threatened Newstalk ZB host Mike Hosking has been sentenced to home detention and community work

Rodney Robertson threatened grievous bodily harm in texts sent in January last year.

Judge Kathryn Maxwell says the language used was crass and disgraceful - including the suggestion a bomb might arrive in the mail.

Threatening to kill or do grievous bodily harm carries a maximum seven-year prison term.
