Firefighters are returning to the scene of a scrub fire near Queenstown, to deal with a number of small hotspots

The blaze near Coronet Peak broke out on Thursday night ... with crews containing it last night.

Fire and Emergency Incident Controller, Nic McQuillan says an aerial flight this morning showed no visible smoke -- but thermal imaging found one hotspot and two other areas that need to be investigated.

It also found a nearby historic hut has not been damaged by the fire.

Skippers Road has reopened to the public, with traffic management in place.
