Police believe a body found in the water near Opoutere Beach is that of a missing swimmer

Samuel Cruickshank and other members of his extended family got into trouble while swimming at the Coromandel beach on Wednesday.

The 15-year-old disappeared during the tragedy and his father Ian died -- one other person is still recovering in Waikato Hospital.

Searches for the missing teen have been extensive - and yesterday afternoon, a member of the public found a body out near Slipper Island.

The death has been referred to the Coroner, and Police have thanked all those involved in the search.
