Traffic heading our of Auckland is crawling, as the long weekend begins

Waka Kotahi's warning Aucklanders travelling to Northland to take the alternate Wellsford route.

Traffic's being channeled down to one lane and the motorway heading north after Johnstones Hill Tunnel is under stop/go management.

Auckland Transport's warning of delays up to an hour.

It says people bussing on the Hibiscus Coast route to Warkworth - should expect delays in both directions.

There's also congestion heading south, and just after 3pm the estimated travel time from the Harbour Bridge to Drury was an hour 45.
