A welcome boost for some of those displaced by Cyclone Gabrielle

A welcome boost for some of those displaced by Cyclone Gabrielle

The Local Democracy Reporting Service reports a series of transportable homes are being delivered to the East Coast.

Five arrived in the settlement of Te Karaka on Thursday night -- while another 10 are being brought to the region next week.

Four of those will be split between Tolaga Bay and Wairoa.

The initiative's being spearheaded by Toitu Tairawhiti, a collective made up of four iwi.

They've set a tough timeframe of six months for getting homes in Te Karaka repaired.
