Video has emerged of police arresting a young man, after a day-light robbery at a Hamilton mall jewellery store

Officers were called to the Chartwell Shopping Centre shortly after three o'clock, after a group of people entered the shop - armed with weapons.

Police say the offenders fled - but one person has been taken into custody and charges are being considered.

A photo from the scene reveals bystanders held down the young man, until police arrived.

Video then shows officers escorting the smirking alleged offender from the store - with one bystander heard saying "wow - he's only a young kid".
