The cost of living crisis is seeing demand for food bank services continue to soar

The cost of living crisis is seeing demand for food bank services continue to soar

A New Zealand Food Network survey has found the amount of people being fed by charities, has surged by 165 percent since Covid.

It says the skyrocketing need is impacting on its ability to supply sufficient stock to it's partner food hubs.

Chief Executive, Gavin Findlay says they thought demand for foodbank services would decrease after the worst of the pandemic.

He says instead, it's grown... with the new normal above and beyond expectations.
