A Dunedin high school will close today and tomorrow, as a community grapples with the sudden death of its co-principal

Logan Park High School's Kristan Mouat has died peacefully, but unexpectedly at home.

Dunedin correspondent Callum Proctor says Mouat has been described as an invaluable educator and inclusive leader.

He says an announcement was made on social media last night, with the Board of Trustees deciding to close the school to allow the community to deal with this devastating news.

The school says it's deeply saddened by this unexpected loss.
