More savings could be on the way for Wellington commuters

More savings could be on the way for Wellington commuters

In Budget 2023 it was announced half price public transport would be axed from July -- but would continue for under 25s and be free for kids.

But to put the changes into place, Greater Wellington Regional Council is considering extending the deal till August -- so it can finish building a system that can verify passenger ages.

Regional Council Transport Committee Chair, Thomas Nash says they have an idea of how much it will cost.

He says the ball park figure is around two million dollars.

They'll make a decision on the extension on Thursday.
