Two Hamilton men have been accused of taking advantage of Afghan evacuees trying to flee the Taliban

The Serious Fraud Office alleges they asked for thousands of dollars payment for evacuation services - that the Government provides for free.

Both defendants face a charge of conspiracy to obtain by deception.

The second defendant's also been charged with obtaining by deception, using a forged document, attempting to pervert the course of justice and obstructing an SFO investigation.

They've been released on bail and will appear in Hamilton District Court next month.
