Tairawhiti Emergency Management's urging residents experiencing sewage issues, to notify Gisborne District Council

Heavy rain continues to hit the east coast, with a red warning in place for Tairawhiti until midday tomorrow.

Group Controller Ben Green, says reports have come through of toilets backing up and gully traps overflowing.

He says consistent rain over the past three days is filling up the waterways and overwhelming the wastewater pipes.
